Jerry Mcguffee

I was born in Utah and raised on the Western Slope of Colorado where I grew up in a community even smaller and more remote than the Kings Valley. I joined the U.S. Navy right after I graduated from high school and retired in 2004 after 20 years as a jet engine and fuel systems mechanic. While I was on active duty I completed my Associate of Arts degree in Geography through West Hills Community College. After I retired, I went back to college and graduated from Eastern Oregon University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and History. I then continued my education through Western Oregon University and graduated in 2015 with a Master of Arts degree in Teaching.

Last year was my first year as a teacher where I taught in the Parma High School in Parma, Idaho. There I taught 12th grade Political Science, Economics and Sociology. During the spring term I taught the Political Science as a Dual Credit course through the College of Western Idaho for those students who elected to register for this course.

This will be my second year teaching in my own classroom and feel extremely lucky to have been chosen to teach in a great school such as the Luckiamute Valley Charter School. I look forward to meeting with all of the parents and members of the community in the very near future.

I am married and currently own a home in Bonanza, Oregon (26 miles east of Klamath Falls) and we looking forward to relocating permanently to the Willamette Valley in the spring. We have three adult daughters who are all at different stages in their lives and two grandchildren. We love to travel and see new and interesting places. I hope to be able to share my knowledge of all the places I have had the opportunity to visit around the world while I was in the Navy with not only the students but the school staff and community as well.
